State Rep. Paul Pacheco: Caught red-handed


State Representative Paul Pacheco tried to steer almost a million in taxpayer dollars to his brother’s construction project outside his district. He successfully funneled $300,000 before a complaint was filed and an investigation started.

In 2014, Pacheco Requested $900,000 For ASK Academy, $230,000 Was Funded

Pacheco Requested $45,000 “To Purchase And Construct The Middle School Science Labs At The ASK Academy.” According to Pacheco’s 2014 capital outlay requests, “ASK ACADEMY CHARTER MID SCHL SCI LABS EQUIP forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) to purchase, install and construct the middle school science labs at the ASK academy charter school in Rio Rancho in Sandoval county.” [Capital Outlay Requests, 2014 Session]

In 2016, Pacheco Requested $167,000 For Construction & Renovation Of The ASK Academy – $40,000 Was Funded

In 2016, Pacheco Requested $167,000 “To Plan, Design, Construct, Renovate And Equip Buildings” At The ASK Academy. According to Pacheco’s 2016 capital outlay requests, “ASK ACADEMY CHARTER SCHL REN & IMPROVE one hundred sixty-seven thousand dollars ($167,000) to plan, design, construct, renovate, furnish and equip buildings and grounds, including a track, ball courts and the purchase and installation of tables, sheds, shade structures, fencing and information technology with related equipment, furniture and infrastructure, for the Ask Academy charter school in Rio Rancho in Sandoval county” [Capital Outlay Requests, 2016 Session]

Pacheco skipped 119 votes while picking up $28,000 in per diem checks from taxpayers.
