It’s painfully obvious whose side Rep. Paul Pacheco is on.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if a politician is on our side, other times its painfully obvious they aren’t.

Take Representative Paul Pacheco.

Pacheco owned and mismanaged the Blades Sports Arena writing bad checks, failing to pay coaches and refusing to honor pre-paid tickets from our kids.

“Pacheco, his wife, Tami, and a third person were partners in 2003-04 in managing the Blades Multiplex, an indoor soccer field and ice rink that was forced to shut down during their tenure.” [Abq Journal, Oct. 18, 2012]

According to the Albuquerque Journal, the bankruptcy was related to Pacheco’s ownership of Blades Sports Arena in Rio Rancho, where he wrote bad checks and failed to pay employees over $5,000. After the power was cut off to the facility in May 2004, Pacheco brought in a generator to power the facility, only to have the facility shut down by the fire marshal due to safety concerns. (ABQ Journal article “City Wants Blades Owner on Carpet” 5/27/04)

“Figure skating coaches claim that The Sports Block owes them over $5,000 and parents have complained that pre-paid entrance fees have not been refunded.” [Albuquerque Journal, 5/27/04]

At the same time, he ran up over $400,000 in debt before he filed for bankruptcy.

In 2005 Paul Pacheco filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy after accruing over $400,000 in liabilities, including more than $141,000 in credit card debt between nineteen credit card accounts. (US District Court for the District of NM 7-05-10027)

With that kind of record, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that in the legislature, he tried to funnel almost a million dollars in taxpayer money to his brother’s construction project.

Paul Pacheco is great at looking out for himself and his family.

He’s even better at leaving us with the check.

November, let’s say no to self-serving politicians like Paul Pacheco.
